El Faro, Whitstable

El Faro is a large detached dwelling with associated external works, all built to a very high specification for a private client.

Viewed from the Whitstable coastline, El Faro certainly achieves its goal of being an iconic beacon on the landscape, with its clean white rendered walls visible from afar.

Construction methods on the project included a 'Metsec' type steel framing system, single ply membrane roofing, silicon render and a resin bonded gravel finish to the client's driveway.

Challenges on this project involved dealing with a very high water table, restricted access, and the construction of a very long drainage run deep manhole constructed in the public highway thus avoiding the need for a pumped system.
