The White Cliffs Pharmacy and associated convenience store was constructed next to the existing White Cliffs doctor’s surgery. Special care was needed during the works as the linked buildings could cause disturbance to the functionality of the surgery.
Having demolished the two original dilapidated dwellings that previously occupied the site, the piled foundations were reinforced with concrete ring beams, a steel frame, pre-cast concrete planks to the first floor and traditional brick/block cavity external walls. External weatherboarding was adopted on certain facades and a trussed roof with slate tiles complimented the adjacent doctor’s surgery, giving the impression that the buildings had always been constructed as one. An internal door between the two buildings also enables patients to walk directly from the surgery to the new pharmacy.
After the completion of the shell, we continued with the fit out, ensuring the final stages of the project ran smoothly and on time to the critical deadline.
All of the works both internally and externally were completed in constant consultation with the busy doctor’s surgery, in order to keep any disruption to a minimum.
