Carbon Reduction Plan

Commitment to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050

Abbott Construction is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting the UK’s transition to a low-carbon economy. We aim to achieve Net Zero emissions by , in line with national targets.

1. Baseline Emissions Footprint

As a small business, we are currently formalising our emissions tracking. At present, our baseline year is 2023, using available data from our office operations.

- Scope 1 (Direct Emissions): No company-owned vehicles or on-site fuel use.
- Scope 2 (Indirect Energy): Electricity use in our Canterbury office.
- Scope 3 (Selected Categories): Business travel, employee commuting, waste, and purchased materials (estimates only at this stage).

We will enhance this data over time to include emissions from our construction activities and supply chain.

2. Current Carbon Reduction Measures

To date, we have:
- Upgraded to LED lighting and energy-efficient appliances in our office
- Implemented recycling and reduced paper usage
- Encouraged video meetings to cut travel
- Chosen local suppliers where possible to reduce delivery mileage

3. Planned Measures

Over the next 12–24 months, we will:
- Develop a formal carbon monitoring system (aligned with the GHG Protocol)
- Promote low-carbon materials and waste reduction on construction sites
- Explore the use of electric or hybrid vehicles for site visits
- Provide staff training on environmental awareness

4. Declaration and Review

This plan will be reviewed and updated annually.
